Navy News, July 25, 2020—Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam: In response to Hurricane Douglas (currently category 1) and to prudently reduce risk of weather inflicted damage, the nuclear-powered Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Chicago (SSN 721) has departed port.

Los Angeles-class Fast-Attack Submarine Returns From A Seven-Month, Around-The-World Deployment.

September 8, 2019, USS Olympia (SSN 7171) is welcomed home to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam after successfully supporting maritime security operations with allies and partners all over the globe.

Commissioned 17 November 1984, the nuclear powered USS Olympia is 362 ft (110 m) in length, has a crew complement of 129, and has an unofficial submerged top speed in excess of 35 knots!

A total of 62 Los Angeles-class were constructed, with 32 in active service.

Official release: BEAUFORT SEA, Arctic Ocean (March 17, 2018) – The Seawolf-class fast-attack submarine USS Connecticut (SSN 22) surfaces in the Arctic Ocean in support of Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2018, March 17. ICEX 2018 is a five-week exercise that allows the Navy to assess its operational readiness in the Arctic, increase experience in the region, advance understanding of the Arctic environment, and continue to develop relationships with other services, allies and partner organizations.
